Position: HR/Finance Applications Product Manager
Reports to: Senior Director of Technology
Location: Hybrid position, reporting to office in in Oak Brook, IL Monday, Wednesday & Thursday. Remote Tuesday & Friday.
Job Summary:
The Applications Product Manager is a key member of the technology team, reporting to the Head of Technology. This role is focused on identifying, designing, migrating, and supporting our HRIS, Billing, and Accounting applications. Someone in this role would work closely with operations/finance leadership and users to understand and document business processes, and help scope technology solutions tailored to optimize back office business processes. The ideal candidate should possess strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills and experience working in HRIS and Financial systems.
Year 1 projects will include overhauling our ERP and Payroll applications, helping the company mature from manual integrations to a fully automated pay/bill application process. We will work with expert outsourced agencies to implement each change, but the Product Manager will help maintain the big picture by collecting requirements and directing the design and development.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Proactively analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for technical enhancements and efficiencies, taking the initiative to propose and implement solutions.
- Independently analyze and validate data integrity across various platforms, making recommendations for improvements.
- Lead reviews of Financial / HR / Payroll applications and databases to ensure they align with business objectives and performance metrics.
- Manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring that they meet scope, time, and cost constraints.
- Lead vendor selection for replacing our HRIS, Payroll, and Financial Applications.
- Liaise with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Work collaboratively with developers, QA teams, and end-users.
- Prepare and deliver project updates to senior leadership.
- Write and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including manuals and FAQs.
- Support change management initiatives to ensure smooth transitions during system upgrades or process changes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex datasets and translate them into strategic actions.
- Strong project management skills, including the use of tools like Jira or Asana.
- Proficient in data analytics and reporting tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- In-depth understanding of HRIS, Payroll, and Billing/Financial systems.
- Experience with Salesforce or Bullhorn a plus.
- Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Experience in documentation and change management.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience in a staffing/recruiting industry is highly desirable.
- PMP or related Project Management certification is a plus.
